The Qinghai-Xizang Plateau was the latest to emerge on earth, but it is the largest in size and the highest in elevation, hence its name as "Roof of the World" or the "Third Pole of the Earth".

Lhasa, the capital of Xizang, is the largest highway hubs of Xizang to where there are many accomplished highways that connect, such as the Qinghai-Xizang Highway, Sichuan-Xizang Highway, Yunnan-Xizang Highway and Xinjiang-Xizang Highway.
