Liaoning province, in a temperate zone, is the southernmost of the three provinces in Northeast China.
It adjoins Jilin and Hebei provinces and Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and is bordered along the Yalu River by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Covering an area of 148,000 square kilometers, the province has the largest provincial economy in Northeast China. It governs 14 prefecture-level cities, covering Shenyang, Dalian, Fushun, Benxi, Anshan, Dandong, Jinzhou, Yingkou, Fuxin, Liaoyang, Panjin, Tieling, Chaoyang and Huludao, with Shenyang as its capital.
