The number of museums in Shaanxi has increased from 221 in 2013 to 360 today, with annual visitor figures rising from 33 million to more than 72 million. Major upgrading projects, including the Xi'an Beilin Museum and Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum, have been listed as key provincial cultural initiatives.

Shaanxi has established a museum system centered on State-owned institutions, complemented by private and community museums. This framework promotes regional cooperation and balanced growth, with provincial-level museums acting as demonstration units.

In recent years, new cultural landmarks such as the Bronze Chariot Museum, the Shaanxi Archaeology Museum, and the Qin and Han Hall of the Shaanxi History Museum have opened to the public. The expansion project of the Xi'an Beilin Museum is scheduled for completion by March 2025.

At the municipal level, museums including the Tongchuan Museum and the Yan'an Museum have been completed, while specialized venues such as the Yellow River Culture Museum and the Stone Relics Museum have also been established. Community museums, with 66 currently in operation, have improved public access to cultural resources.

Shaanxi has enhanced the management of cultural relics through the use of digital technologies. The province has built a movable cultural relic management platform, completed the digitization of artifacts, and set up regional data centers to support dynamic collection management. Over the past five years, 28,000 artifacts have been restored and 100,600 items have undergone authentication, supported by dedicated research facilities and cross-department collaboration.

The development of creative cultural products has continued to expand, with more than 400 new items introduced each year. Cooperation with lifestyle brands has contributed to local economic development. Digital initiatives such as online exhibitions and cloud-based educational programs have broadened public access to cultural content.

Shaanxi has also strengthened international cooperation, signing more than 80 agreements with cultural institutions in countries including France and Italy. These collaborations support the exchange of expertise in artifact conservation and promote Shaanxi’s cultural heritage as a symbol of Chinese civilization.
