Sichuan, Chuan for short, is located in southwest China and on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. It has long been known as the "Land of Abundance".
Sichuan is steeped in history and time-honored cultures. During the pre-Qin period (prior to 221 BC), the area that is now Sichuan Province was part of the ancient Ba and Shu states.
The State Council Information Office held a press conference on May 27 in Beijing to brief the media on promoting high-quality development and undertaking Sichuan's mission to boost development of China's western region.
Sichuan has a complete industrial system. It stands out as one of the three major national bases for power equipment manufacturing and one of the four major bases for the electronic information industry in China.
