Hefei, capital city of Anhui province, is located between the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River, and beside the Chaohu Lake. It is a mid-China city nearest to the coastal cities in eastern China. Under the city's jurisdiction there are four urban districts, four counties, one county-level city and three development zones. Namely: Yaohai, Luyang, Shushan and Baohe Districts, Feidong, Feixi, Changfeng and Lujiang Counties, Chaohu City and Hefei State New & High Technology Industrial Development Zone, Hefei Economic and Technological Development Area and Hefei New Railway Station Comprehensive Development Experimental Zone.
Hefei is located in the transit zone between subtropics and warm temperate zone with a subtropics moist monsoon climate. The annual precipitation is about 1,000 millimeters, the average temperature 15.7 centigrade and the relative moisture 76%. The air quality reaches the class good or higher for over 261 days a year, which is in line with the state environment protection standard Grade 2.
