With a total planned area of 1,726 square kilometers, Jingpo Lake Scenic Area was approved as one of the national key scenic spots by the State Council in 1982, and was named as a world geopark by UNESCO in 2006.

Located in the southwest of Mudanjiang, southeast of Heilongjiang province, it is an important tourist destination in Northeast China. Jingpo Lake is 45 km long from north to south, 6 km wide from east to west. It covers a water area of 80 sq km, with a storage capacity of 1.6 billion cubic meters, and the forest coverage rate reaches more than 68 percent.

The forest stretches with 12 craters, which emerged after volcanoes erupted in ancient geographical ages, that shine like jewels against the backdrop of placid lakes.

Its unique geological structure has generated a diverse vegetation landscapes. The most typical here are Korean pine forest, Korean pine broad-leaved mixed forest and broadleaved deciduous forest, with more than 50 kinds of wild animals living in the area.

The streams running through the lush, colorful forests, birds flying and twittering above the blue sky and the crystal lake reflecting the vigor and vitality of the nature will make one feel as though they have stepped into a delicate dream.
