Wuhan, one of China's megacities, is the economic, cultural, commercial and financial center in Central China. The world's 3rd longest river, the Yangtze River, with its greatest branch, the Hanshui River, flow across the city and divide it into three parts, namely Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang. In 2020, Wuhan's GDP was 1.56 trillion yuan, ranking 9th among Chinese cities and 5th among sub-provincial cities in the country; its general public budget revenue reached 239.277 billion yuan and total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 614.984 billion yuan, ranking 9th among cities in China; the actual investment of 932.86 billion yuan made in Wuhan is up 6.7%.

Commerce: Wuhan is home to more than 10,000 commercial undertakings and 62 large shopping malls, with a per capita retail space of more than 3.1m².
Finance: The number of financial institutions ranks 1st in Central China while the number of financial back-office service institutions is the largest nationwide. The CDI CFCI (China Financial Center Index) indicates that Wuhan ranks 6th among sub-provincial cities in terms of comprehensive competitiveness; There are 63 companies listed domestically, placing Wuhan in the front rank of cities in central China in this regard.
Exhibition: Wuhan is one of the birthplaces of the exhibition industry in modern China. In total, it boasts 300,000m² of exhibition space and 150,000 m² of conference space. Wuhan again won the Golden Dolphin Award— "Top Ten Famous Exhibition Cities" in 2020.
Healthcare: There are 6,446 health care and medical institutions, 93,800 beds, 115,200 health workers, and 65 third-grade hospitals; Wuhan Tongji Hospital and Wuhan Union Hospital are among the top 20 hospitals in China in terms of comprehensive strength.
Urban transportation:Eleven rail transit lines are in operation, covering 360km. By 2024, a rail network of 14 lines with a total length of 606 kilometers will be formed.
Education: There are 1,794 kindergartens, 1,001 regular primary and secondary schools, 125 secondary vocational schools, and 110 higher education institutions.
Culture: Wuhan is a city of gastronomy; it has the world's top stage "Han Show Theatre"; it has hosted several high-level sports events, including Wuhan Tennis Open, Wuhan Marathon, Wuhan Speed Horse Racing Open, World Fly-in Expo, Wuhan Marathon Swimming, and 24 Hour Le Mans Wuhan.
