New material industry
The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (Hannan) prioritizes the development of high-end metal, new inorganic non-metallic and advanced chemical material industries and supports key enterprises; it aims to build a new material industry cluster in China.
Next generation information technology industry
The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (Hannan) introduces and incubates basic industries which are closely related to smart industries, including photo-communication, next generation information technology and equipment, integrated circuits, information technology service, e-commerce and digital publishing.
High-end equipment manufacturing industry
The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (Hannan) plans to improve the technological level of equipment manufacturing and prioritizes the development of basic manufacturing industries, including high precision NC machine tools, large-scale CNC forming stamping equipment, and clean and efficient casting and heat treatments.
Biomedical industry
The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (Hannan) has several biomedical industrial leading companies, such as Wuhan Tongji Modern Pharmaceutical Technology, Wuhan HITECK and Topsun Group. The zone will cultivate, introduce and support a series of skeleton enterprises, famous enterprises and distinctive small and medium-sized biomedical enterprises. Industries such as biological pharmaceuticals, modern Chinese medicine, synthetic drugs and health services will be prioritized in the zone.
Electronic appliances industry
The industry includes the Gree Electric Appliances Industrial Park, the Midea Industrial Park, and the Haier Industrial Park.
The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) will give full play to the advantages of leading enterprises including Haier, Gree, and the Midea Group, expand the breadth and depth of industrial development, and accelerate expansion of the electronic appliances industry to the fields of emerging industries and the parts and supporting industries, becoming one of the most important electronic manufacturing centers in China.
Automobile industry
Automobiles are a pillar industry of Central China's Hubei Province. To seize upon new opportunities for industrial development, the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) has introduced an action plan to upgrade its new energy and intelligent connected vehicle segment. The action plan sets clear goals in five areas: the NEV industrial scale, brand influence, breakthroughs in core technologies, factors in industrial ecosystem, and innovative application scenarios. It proposes creating more than 10 distinctive automotive and auto component brands.
Robot industry
The city of Wuhan in Central China's Hubei province has made the list of the top 10 Chinese cities in robotics. By 2022, statistics show that there are a total of nearly 100 robotics companies in Hubei, and more than 40 percent of them are registered in Wuhan. About 80% of them focus on integrated robotics. Cobot's contactless smart drug store enjoys the largest domestic market share.
Strong in education and R&D, Wuhan boasts many local universities with high-quality robotics departments, such as Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In addition, the city also has many characteristic national sci-tech research platforms, state-owned manufacturers and all kinds of innovation incubators.
