​Xizang: Treasure trove of natural beauty, biodiversity

Waterbirds are spotted in the wetland of Lake Namtso, which lies between Damxung county of Lhasa and Baingoin county of Nagqu, Xizang Autonomous Region, June 21, 2025. Lake Namtso is the second-largest lake in Xizang and the third-largest saltwater lake in China. Located at an elevation of 4,718 meters, the lake possesses a vast plateau lake wetland ecosystem, providing an ideal habitat for wild birds such as the ruddy shelduck, great crested grebe and bar-headed goose.
