​Xizang: Treasure trove of natural beauty, biodiversity

Two great crested grebes swim in Lake Namtso, which lies between Damxung county of Lhasa and Baingoin county of Nagqu, Xizang Autonomous Region, June 20, 2025. Lake Namtso is the second-largest lake in Xizang and third-largest saltwater lake in China. Located at an elevation of 4,718 meters, the lake possesses a vast plateau lake wetland ecosystem, providing an ideal habitat for wild birds such as the grebe and the bar-headed goose.
