Directed by Zhang Xuanpeng and starring Yin Zheng, Pan Binlong, Huang Cailun and Zhang Yiming, the film follows a fake kung fu master turned internet celebrity who is hired to transform his hometown into a martial arts tourism destination.

Upon his return, he clashes with rival kung fu school owners while hatching schemes that bring the town viral fame. His plans unravel when a corrupt investor draws him into a shady deal, sparking a series of comedic and chaotic misadventures.

Chinese comedy megastar Shen Teng served as artistic consultant.

"I believe that comedy can bring relaxation and joy to everyone — that was certainly one of our initial aspirations," director Zhang said at the film's premiere in Beijing on Dec. 26.

"I was also very fortunate to have so many excellent actors and crew members because we are one big family," he said. "All the people in the town in the film are also a family. So, it's about watching how this group of unique individuals strive and struggle amid harsh reality."

"I think comedy, beyond laughter, actually has the power to give people some strength," Zhang added. "Through this film, I hope we can convey a positive energy to everyone at the end of the year."

The film is adapted from the 2007 South Korean comedy "Master Kim vs Master Kim vs Master Kim," but grounds itself in contemporary Chinese society by touching on themes such as internet celebrity culture, rural hometown nostalgia and the challenges of local development.

Yin described his character as "a person striving to survive."

"But what attracted me most about him is that he's a good father," Yin said. "Through his child, he himself also receives an education, undergoes a transformation and experiences an awakening. Initially, he is merely surviving, but later he truly starts living — living for himself, and for his son too."

The film features extensive Chinese martial arts sequences. Cast members, most of whom are comedians, credited the choreography team with making the fight scenes work.

"Enough Is Enough" enters a crowded New Year's Day film season in China, competing against "Escape from the Outland," "Back to the Past" and "Unexpected Family."
