Three-Body Universe, the global exclusive operator and rights holder of "The Three-Body Problem," released a new audio drama adaptation of the acclaimed sci-fi series on Dec. 18, in collaboration with China's leading online audio platform Himalaya.

The partnership marks the latest audio collaboration between the two companies, building on their previous successful "Three-Body" radio drama and audiobook. It adds to the growing portfolio of content based on Liu Cixin's Hugo Award-winning novel.
The new production features a high-profile voice cast. Renowned artist Wang Mingjun serves as narrator, while broadcast host Ouyang Xiadan voices Sophon, a sentient proton-sized supercomputer. Qian Wenqing, known for "Joy of Life," plays protagonist Wang Miao. Voice director Daxiang, recognized for his work on the hit game "Black Myth: Wukong," voices police officer Shi Qiang.
The franchise's audio offerings have evolved through different audio formats. A 2019 radio drama focused on performance and sound effects, while a 2020 audiobook emphasized a single-narrator reading of the text.
The latest audio drama merges the strengths of both predecessors. It employs a dual-track narrative combining original text reading with character performance. Producers say the format preserves the novel's literary style while using cinematic sound design to create an immersive experience.
Since 2019, audio content from the "Three-Body" series has accumulated more than 900 million plays.
Three-Body Universe said the collaboration with Himalaya aims to expand the franchise's audience through high-quality audio formats. The company plans to continue collaborating with top partners to push the creative boundaries of sci-fi properties, ensuring the franchise delivers futuristic experiences to diverse audiences.
