盘古开天辟地

【原文】

天地浑沌如鸡子，盘古生其中。万八千岁，天地开辟。阳清为天，阴浊为地。盘古在其中，一日九变。神于天，圣于地。天日高一丈，地日厚一丈，盘古日长一丈。如此万八千岁，天数极高，地数极深，盘古极长，后乃有三皇。

【今译】

远古时，天与地是一团浑沌的气体，好似一个蛋白蛋黄混合成一体的鸡蛋，盘古在其间孕育。一万八千年后，天和地分开，明亮轻清的阳气上升为天，黑暗重浊的阴气下沉为地。在天地间，盘古一天会变化多次， 他的智慧和能力比天地还高明。天空每日增高一丈，大地每日加厚一丈，盘古的身体也会每日长高一丈。像这样又过了一万八千年，天空上升得非常高，大地下沉得极其深，盘古的身体也生长得极高，然后天皇、地皇、人皇才出现在世间。

Long ago before the world as we know it existed, the heavens and earth were simply a chaotic mass of air in the form of a huge egg. with the egg white and the yolk mixed together within the egg, a being called Pangu grew. After 18,000 years, the heavens broke apart from the earth, the bright and clear yang air ascending to form the sky, and the dark and muddy yin air descending to form the earth. Pangu was between the sky and earth, changing significantly every day, his wisdom and power exceeding that of the sky and earth. Each day, the sky rose about another three meters, the earth grew thicker by as much, and Pangu grew taller by as much, a process which continued for another 18,000 years, causing all three to grow extremely large. Only after this did the Heavenly, Earthly, and Human Sovereigns come into being in the human world.
